Monkeys Fist - Welcome

Monkey's Fist is a folk band formed in November 2000, specialising in maritime songs, shanties and ballads. Following several changes it has evolved into a four-part group consisting (from left) Alan Collier, Steve Flude, Colin Devey, and John Horsey.

The sound is full and solid, with a tightness resulting from a good understanding of their musical capabilities and an ever-widening repertoire of shanties and maritime songs. There is a strong thread of audience participation, combined with a sense of fun and enjoyment, which emanates from every performance.

They have performed at many of the major maritime and folk festivals, as well as notable folk clubs such as The Grove FC (Leeds), The Black Swan FC (York) and Robin Hood's Bay FC.
